Are Americans really as uneducated and ignorant as portrayed in the media?

As an American that lives outside of the United States, I feel I am in a good position to vouch for the fact that the rest of the world isn’t a shining example of intellectualism. I meet people in Mexico all the time who are unaware that Mexico is even a part of North America. Most of the world is about as similarly stupid as the United States. What the United States holds over the rest of the world is that no idea is a stupid idea there. We will give you a chance to fund your stupid idea in the off chance that it might work. Almost no other country offers that; it’s why people will go to the United States to try their new idea in tech. We are a people that are totally open to suggestions. Countries that are seen as much more intelligent, like Japan or China, often shoot down ideas that Americans will support. Tell me, who is really ignorant?
Oh, boy. I get so tired of questions like this. How can Americans be so ignorant but also create places like Quora or Reddit? If we were as dumb as the media likes to portray us, I’d be surprised if Americans could even write their name on a sheet of paper. America has been a place that has attracted intellectuals from all over the world for a good century now. If America was so dumb and ignorant, why would those people go there?
(When Albert Einstein wished to spread his knowledge to the world, he didn’t immigrate to China, Canada, or The United Kingdom. Instead he went to the United States, where his ideas gained a lot of traction. Why is that? Image source: Wikipedia).
